From the perspective of brain neuroscience, I’ll explain why you like the same spaces that cats enjoy.| XERLIFE+ Journal

Have you noticed? Cats always pinpoint the most comfortable corner of the whole home. Sunlight just right, sightlines safe, no one to bother them. It’s not warmth they’re choosing — it’s space. That’s instinct. And your instinct has been buried under thousands of years of civilization.
Learn to Choose Space from a Cat
The three laws of how cats choose a space
Back Protected, Front Open
A cat never sleeps in the middle of the room. It finds a corner, back to the wall, facing the door. Exactly like the human need for a safety anchor. This is the primal vertebrate instinct — don’t be exposed, control the entrance.
A High Place to Perch
Cats love climbing — not out of curiosity, but for safety. From above, they can survey everything and spot threats early. You don’t need to climb a bookshelf, but a windowsill slightly higher than the sofa, a chair on a half-step of elevation — these “micro-elevations” give you the same sense of control.
Low Stimulation, Warm Light Patches
Cats nap only in the sun. Not laziness — intelligence. The color temperature of a warm sun patch is about 3500K, precisely the optimal response range of the human parasympathetic nervous system. Cats don’t use color meters — their nerves tell them “it’s safe here.”
Be a Cat
Next time you wander around your home, forget price, forget brands, forget design cred. Ask only one question: if I were a cat, which corner would I curl up in to sleep? That corner is where you should put down your phone and actually sit for a while.
