This direct pathway from the manufacturer to the design application is precisely what XERLIFE+ advocates: to bring excellent designs into every living space that needs improvement.

I. Core Philosophy: Healing Experiments Using Space as a Medium
II. In-depth Implementation of the Four Core Design Concepts
(NatureCo-existence)
(Rest&Stay)
III. Careful Material Selection: From Glaze Colors in Jingdezhen to Manufacturing in Foshan
Project Background: Public Area Renovation of Guangdong Damen Design Innovation Industrial Park
Introduction: Finding Breathing Space in the Industrial Forest
At the Shunde Damen Design Innovation Industrial Park, we’re faced with a typical industrial environment: efficient, functional, but also often characterized by high stress levels. As an architect, my task was to find a way to create a space in this function-driven setting that encourages people to stay, relax, and be inspired—a “negative ion core” of sorts. My solution was called “Breath of Life”.
This approach isn’t just a reconfiguration of space; it’s also an experiment in “neuroaesthetics.” We insist on unifying these three dimensions:
1. Taoist worldview: Pursues the concept of “the coexistence of the real and the virtual”. Instead of creating solid physical barriers, boundaries are defined through the use of light, shadow, and the movement of air.
2. Neuroscience basis: Modern office workers are under extremely high cognitive stress. By using the low-saturation colors of fair-faced concrete combined with natural elements, we help the brain return to a balanced state.
3. Supply Chain Integration: Leveraging Foshan’s and the Greater Bay Area’s strong manufacturing capabilities to ensure that design concepts are accurately implemented.
We’ve introduced tiered vegetation islands and green wall installations. This not only serves as a visual element for greening the space but also creates an indoor ecological core through user-friendly design, giving the public areas a “forest-like” feel.
Based on neuroaesthetics, we made extensive use of exposed concrete and soft lighting effects. In particular, Jingdezhen glazed ceramic hollow bricks were selected for the key visual elements. As light passes through the hollow patterns, it creates rhythmic patterns on the ground that change over time, effectively reducing levels of psychological cortisol.
Through a multi-dimensional, tiered seating arrangement, it transforms into a high-frequency “social container.” Whether for individual deep meditation or group brainstorming sessions, this semi-transparent space provides a sense of security and comfort for everyone involved.
The public area must have the ability to “generate its own resources.” We’ve seamlessly integrated a self-service replenishment system into the layout. This combination of design and functionality transforms what would otherwise be dull corridors into the most vibrant, valuable assets of the campus.
To achieve the most perfect “breathability” effect, I chose Saide Linglong tiles. These ceramic tiles, with their gentle glaze finish, combine the aesthetic of open spaces characteristic of Eastern architecture with the weather-resistant properties of industrial-grade products.
